Convert PDF bank statements to Excel
Get a clean .xlsx with one row per transaction: real dates, numeric debit, credit, signed amount and running balance columns — ready for SUM, pivot tables and filters. No more copy-pasting from a PDF and fixing broken columns.
How it works
- Download the PDF statement from your online banking (the original PDF, not a scan).
- Drop it above. TidyLedger reads the text layer locally and finds every transaction, date and amount.
- Check the balance badge, tweak anything you like, then download Excel, CSV, QBO or OFX.
Why TidyLedger
Built for bookkeepers, freelancers, landlords and anyone stuck with PDF-only statements.
Private by design
The converter runs entirely in your browser. Your statements are never uploaded to a server — not ours, not an AI's. Works offline once loaded.
Reconciled, not guessed
Every row is checked against the statement's running balance, so you know the numbers are right before you import them.
Any bank layout
Separate debit/credit columns, signed amounts, CR/DR, grouped dates, multi-line descriptions, US or European number formats, English or French.
Excel, CSV, QBO, OFX
Real dates and numeric amounts in Excel and CSV. QuickBooks Web Connect (QBO) and OFX for direct import into accounting software.
Batch a whole year
Pro converts dozens of statements at once into one merged, sorted spreadsheet — a year of books in a minute.
Review & edit
Preview every transaction, fix a description or remove a row before you download. Rows that don't reconcile are highlighted.
FAQ
Is it really private?
Yes. The PDF is read by JavaScript running in your browser tab; the file and its contents are never sent over the network. You can verify it in your browser's developer tools (Network tab), or disconnect from the internet after the page loads — conversion still works.
Which banks are supported?
TidyLedger doesn't rely on per-bank templates. It reads the table layout of any text-based PDF statement, so it works with most banks and credit cards in Canada, the US, the UK, Europe and Australia. See the list of tested banks.
Does it work with scanned statements?
Not yet. Scanned or photographed statements have no text layer; OCR support is coming. Download the original PDF from online banking for best results.
What about password-protected PDFs?
Supported. You'll be asked for the password, which is used only inside your browser to open the file.
How accurate is it?
When the statement has a running balance, every transaction is verified against it and you'll see a green “balances reconcile” badge. Rows that don't add up are highlighted so you can fix them before exporting.
What's free?
10 pages per day with CSV and Excel export, no account needed. Pro adds unlimited pages, batch conversion and QBO/OFX export.
